The ubiquity of QR codes represents an unrecognised milestone in the integration of machines into the human comprehension process. For us, a QR code is an illegible code/image/ portal. We are wholly reliant on computers to ‘read’ the information to provide meaning.
‘an image (Epitaph)’ is an evolution of and homage to Magritte’s famous work, The Treachery of Images (1929), considered from a contemporary perspective. The artwork is simultaneously an image, a code, and a portal to its digital double.
